Justin Rose: Men’s and women’s team competition in the Olympics would be ‘phenomenal’ | Golf Channel
would you like to see and I get the feeling that Riviera when it’s La hosting the Olympics in 28 everything I hear the signs are pointing that we’ll have in addition to the men’s the women’s competition a team competition with men’s and women’s teams being able to compete as well like you have in relays swimming and track do you like the idea of that possibility yeah I think that’s a phenomenal opportunity and I think that that will be so good for oh wow what a shot what a whole lot pretty sweet [Music] that’s those are the dream things to do it in the US Open right 100% that smartens up the scorecard right there but and for Andrea Lee to get back into top five here with that with that two at the first that could be huge come Sunday for sure but uh yeah just just just to wrap up the Olympics I think um I’ve always believed that the individual side of it is so so important because obviously you can get players from obscure countries are incredible at their Sport and they have an opportunity to win gold but if you pin them with another player and you create a team environment that can maybe handicap them a little bit so the individual side I think is still so so important but if we create a secondary event where you can pair the men and the women I think that’s a massive way of celebrating the game of golf showing the the skill sets of both of us together and I think that that’s a really really important story to tell and if we can do that in the Olympic environment I think that’s massive for golf well he’s uh for a quarter of a century been a part of the major golf championship story and Ryder Cup story and Olympics and number one golfer in the world major Champion a whole bunch of things you can say about juser Rose but uh a first class Statesman the representative of the game as well hey thanks for uh thanks for spending a few minutes late on a Friday evening over there we look forward to seeing you back here in a few weeks and we’ll see you at Pinehurst for the 1,000 USGA Championship absolutely can’t wait and uh yeah thanks for having me on great to see you buddy keep up the great work and obviously I’m pulling for all the for all the ladies out there
