In this episode of Approach Shots, PGA Tour golfer Justin Rose has some tips for how to rip your 3-wood swing.
Transcript:
“One thing that you may see me do out on tour in my pre-shot routine is a bit of a rehearsal that when I get to the top of my back swing I like to feel that I stay closed halfway down. So basically I’m feeling like my left arm is dropping down my chest as I stay closed to the target. That does a couple of things for me. It helps my rhythm, it keeps me very patient off the top of the back swing and also helps me keep a little bit of lag a little bit of an angle as I come down into the ball.
One of my faults is when I get a little bit quick and I unwind too early and when that happens I have to hit the brakes essentially and wait for the club to fall into the hitting zone and hence I have to time impact so much more and I end up actually losing the face through impact.
But when I make this move and I really wait for it now I put myself in a position where I have to turn very aggressively through impact.
So I can pivot much faster, much harder, much more powerfully and that actually stabilizes the face through the hitting area. Should look something like this.”

Thanks Justin Rose, love the tip!
I think I'm in love with Justin rose'sgolf swing
Very nice. Well explained, Justin!
show off…
At 0:54 does he do the swoosh sound with his mouth or the club?
That JR, great Golfer, his swing has something special difficult to say
I wonder how he gets the hands so low on the downswing without sticking the club head into the ground ?
always looks so easy, bet you can never do that.
To be able to rotate that fast- that's the secret
“Should look something like this” —— uhmmm no Justin, sorry, ours don’t …
Is Justin swinging down with his left arm?
The tour pros explain things so simply. It's great. YouTube teachers take note.
One of the best ball striker on tour🙌
Beautiful to watch
Good luck w that boyz
I did catch that. Amazing.
Mine looks nothing like that Justin.
All these blow-hards in the instruction business can be put to shame by Mr. Rose. He has such fantastic tips and doe it in a fraction of the time all the wanna-be instructors do. That's because Justin KNOWS how it's done, and not just read about it or do it in his living room only. Great job as usual.
Wow this is some golden info
One of my favorite players. Sterling silver tempo and ball flight.
Piece of cake.
They make it look so easy 😂
That dude is pure
