right okay, that's the feet sorted….now how the hell do you swing it like that?

That not the correct way to do it. The reason he over cut it, is because the ball will always start where the club face is pointed….and THEN fade or draw. So, he needs to have that same alignment, and have the club face point slightly LEFT of target.

@splitopennmelt you are wrong if his ball started where his club was pointed he would have hit a push fade.

Standard way to hit a fade is to have your body aligment slightly left of the actual target and point the clubface where you want the ball to end up.

@f0cusen You need to look at the "new" ball flight laws. If you point the club where you want the ball to end up….it will start there and fade away from the target (ball starts where clubface is pointed, not where path is going). Im afraid you need to freshen up your teaching

But if you setup your body liek Kaymer does the clubface will not be pointed at the target when you are hitting a fade that is because of the swingpath the clubfade will be pointed left of the actual target and the swingpath creates the side spin on the ball and the ball will fade when the ball loses distance.
Have you even hit a fade? Do you even know how to hit a fade?

A fade is basically a pull but with an open clubface .

@f0cusen I do actually….thats what im trying to explain to you!

Kaymer in this video is saying that he wants his body a little left and the clubface where he wants the ball to END UP ( clubface pointed at the target). How can you say that the clubface wont be pointed at the target at impact?

The correct way would be to have your body slightly left of target with the clubface pointed between your body line and the target……not at the target!

Was he using a hybrid or 3 wood and what model?

@ellis505 which means if he played a successful shot he returns the club slightly closed from his set up position right? Guy this good will strike it how it needs to be struck I guess, he seems to be doing ok : )

@splitopennmelt The clubface determines where the ball will start and the swing path creates the side spin. I'm just saying that the clubface will not be pointed at the target at impact the target is obviously the pin because of the swing path the clubface will be pointed left of the Target (FLAG) and the and the ball will feed back to the right because of the swing path. My natrual shot is a fade btw.

To clarify how to hit a fade you have to set up your body left of the target that means the swingpath has to be left of the target then set up the clubface right of the swing path. The swingpath is the body alignment.

So you should not set up the clubface at the target you should set up your body left of the target and your clubface right of your body alignment not at the target.

The harder you swing, the more the swing path has a role in the initial direction. For an old lady, obviously the ball will start where the club face is aimed. For a guy like Bubba, it's around 60-70% clubface, then the rest is from the swing path. It just depends how clean your clubface is, and how clean the ball is.

@justinp766 you may still be rotating your hands over a little to much. I always concentrate on keeping my rist somewhat set threw a fad. Hope that helps.

I like how all the comments are trying to explain how to hit a cut, but there just saying the same thing that Kaymer is saying in different words.

@sandersuperfollador What you described is a pushfade a powerfade would be a pullfade with low spin rate.

sethisawesome August 30, 2011 - 3:08 am

@splitopennmelt If he aimed his body left of the target and aimed his clubface left of the target he'd hit it left of the target. What proponents of the "new" ball flight laws don't understand is how all these guys are setting up relative to their targets–his body isn't actually open to the target line, it's square to his start line. All this pull fade shit is a bunch of nonsense. A pull fade is a slice.

qdE uä May 18, 2012 - 11:44 pm

Really I thought it would be a pushfade with 6000 rpm. I'm fully aware of what a powerfade is and how to hit one.

x sauceda June 14, 2014 - 4:29 am

an over-cut a little bit is basically a SLICE.
