Ya’ll didn’t mind when Rory got a free drop from a bunker onto the green at the US Open last year though did you 🤣

Something similar happened to Bryson on Sunday at the Rocket Mortgage. Instead of playing from deep rough he took free relief on the putting green. He went on to win.

And the Oscar for best lead actor in a drama/documentary goes to Robert MacIntyre for his role in "Sprinkler Head." Few can stand in the same spot as your practice swing and than fully extend your arms to the ball and act like that's how you really address your ball to swing. That was BS Ruling. If your feet are on a sprinkler for your practice swing, how can they be there again when you have to step in and address the ball? With how deep that rough was, how hard his practice swing was and the amount of grass that came up during it there is no way he could have stayed in the same spot because his ball would have moved during his practice swing. Even the announcers said, "Are they calling in a rules official because the ball moved during his practice swing because of how deep the rough is? You have to be careful when the rough is that high" Regardless of how great his shot was after there is no way he could have stood in the same spot again without fully extending your arms to the ball acting like thats actually how you swing a club like a weekend hacker. And NO I am not a Rory or Tiger fan before you say the rules have helped them.

Calling where he dropped his ball a “b plus” situation is just exaggerating to make your point.
Dude still had to drop in grass up to his knees and executed an amazing shot under immense pressure. There’s nothing worse than a keyboard jockey trying to downplay someone’s accomplishments because they know they they’d shit their pants in that scenario.

Rules are rules. Sometimes they deal you a bad break, other times you get lucky. An R&A rules official was called in and gave the ruling. End of argument.

It goes both ways. You might have a perfect shot that hits the pin or another ball on the green that results in a penalty shot after the ball careens in the water for example. Touchè…
